Commercial Construction Process
- You are to provide the following:
- New Construction Application (It may be faxed, submitted online, or mailed to the appropriate District address).
- Site plan and legal description of property should include:
- Panel location
- Preferred transformer location - Electrical load plan should include:
- One-line diagrams
- Panel schedules, if available
- Main panel size
- Air conditioning size per unit
- Motor sizes
Steps 2 -10 are for any line work associated with the job. - TEP designer reviews plans if necessary.
- Redline drawing, TEP's Service Requirements Specifications (SR Book), and letter are mailed to you.
- Legal description for easement is requested. You approve or request changes of the electrical layout.
- You approve or request changes of the electrical layout.
You may call, write or fax your response. - TEP designer prepares a final construction drawing of the electrical system.
- Construction drawing and letter are mailed to you.
- TEP Service Requirements Specifications are referred to on the drawing.
- Copy of drawing is mailed to other utilities (if applicable).
- TEP sends an agreement, if applicable.
- You sign and notarize easements and execute any agreements.
- TEP sends "Approved for Construction" drawing and letter after easements and/or agreements are received.
- You may contact Field Technician prior to starting construction (Distribution Area Map & Contacts). The Field Technician may request a Pre-Construction meeting or may provide information over the phone.
- You install duct system and call TEP for an inspection before backfilling the trench. Any concrete encased duct must be inspected prior to and after the pouring of concrete, but prior to backfilling.
After backfilling, a steel mandrel will be pulled through the duct in the presence of a Field Technician.
You frame transformer pad or purchase a pre-cast pad and call TEP for an inspection.

- TEP crews install the cable and pad-mounted transformer(s) (or other facilities).
- You are responsible for the following:
- Three-Phase: Pull in own service conductors. Service point of delivery is typically at the secondary terminals in the transformer.
- Single-Phase: Dig service trench. (TEP installs the service conductors.)
- Call TEP for a service inspection.
The following contingencies MUST be met prior to installing the service:
- TEP passes service inspection. (meter socket, connections, trench and address labeling on panel)
- Final clearance is received from the governmental agency.
- TEP crews complete service after governmental clearance has been received:
- For Three-Phase: Tap customer's wire at the transformer and install metering devices as required.
- For Single-Phase: Install service conductors and sets meter on.
